An interesting site in YouTube caught my attention from American named Chris who love to sing (OPM) Original Pilipino Music. Some of the songs are covers of famous Filipino bands back home. He hails from New Jersey and been featured in national TV in the Philippines. He is 100% kano. I do not know how he is connected to the Philippines through his wife perhaps or friends? Although I seen him in some of his video while singing in the rooftop in Caloocan as the children are watching him played. Salamat Chris sa pagkanta ng mga Pinoy songs. Mabuhay ka!

An exciting event will happen this coming January 3, 2010. I am fond of watching Iron Chef and Hell Kitchen. But this time one chef is our Filipino kababayan Cristeta Pasia Comerford, the white house executive chef. It is the battle of greatest chefs of America. Gee, I will watch this show.

I been back for three days of vacation from Las Vegas. It was my second time to visit the famous place in Nevada. This time around I have a funny experienced. I really don't have any idea where we going to stay there. This trip is plan for a month already. Together with my friends Jenny & Dennis, we went there Thursday night. It is a three hours drive from our place.

Listening to the different Christmas songs on our way there as well the darkness of the highway and coldness of the night added more excitement for the second time around.

We already noticed the inviting neon lights of Las Vegas. On our way to our destination, I uttered "How rich is Paris Hilton? upon seeing the hotel joking. Then I asked Dennis, where are we going to stay?" as we proceed to the parking lot without even checking in. As he drove back to the hotel entrance for our check in , I noticed the sign "Hilton". I told Jenny, "Is this the place where going to stay?" OMG.... I really don't have any idea even Jenny, her husband doesn't say anything from her. How lucky we are.

I assumed that we will be billeted in just ordinary hotel or house because we have our numerous things like ready to cook food, rice cooker, etc. to saved money. The funny thing came now, when the bell boy gather all our things. I have only my duffle bag, backpack and my laptop but some of our things are just placed in the plastic bag, the worst part trash bag. When I am about to get out in the car, I have a big watermelon with me. I was really ashamed to carry it as if I asked Jenny if I can leave the fruit in the car. I handed the watermelon twice and put it back again in the car seat. The bell boy saw me and asked me to give the watermelon to him so that he can arranged it in the carriage. Could you imagine that we will be billeted in the posh Hilton and some of our things is like that without even placed in the decent bag or container. An awkward scene, me? carrying watermelon in front of the front desk of the lobby of the hotel. Hahaha. The scenario look like that we came from the province, with lots of plastic bags and it is our first time to set foot in the city like Manila. Really funny... Have we known that we will billeted in that nice hotel, we will surely have effort to hide those embarassing things.

Nevertheless, our stay is comfy despite we lost a few bucks in the different casinos but the experienced again in Vegas is awesome. Our stay are courtesy of the parents of Dennis. Thank you Tita and Tito for the wonderful experience...One more good thing the watermelon is sweet.

Reunion

An instant reunion happened awhile ago in Carson California when I surprised my former Pasadena colleagues. I was there to attend the birthday celebration of Ruby's daughter. Nobody knew that I was coming over except for Jenny. They thought I was still in the bay area. It was a night of fun and laughter. A lot of changes physically among ourselves, majority of us gained weight indicating the acceptance of American culture except for Ruby who remain slim and sexy. The gang is almost complete except for the absence of Natalie in Arizona and Marilyn in LA. We will see each other again this coming Tournament Rose parade in Pasadena on new years day. See you guys there.

Rainbow

The rain stopped already for two days. The skies open. The rainbow appear in the sky. The chilly weather added a melancholy atmosphere for my part. I don't like this feeling, missing my family back home.

The season of Advent is one important occasion to us Filipinos, just like Thanksgiving for Americans. This is my second time to celebrate the yuletide season without them. Last year I am amused of my white Christmas in Reno. Seeing for the first time the snow, snow storm and playing like a kid in the immaculate white snow of Mount Rose. Amidst this superficial things what is important is to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ. What is more happy is to celebrate this with your family. I hate this feeling...

As I walked in the downtown and seeing the Christmas decors in the street, reminded me of this ambiance again. People are wearing their winter outfits. I myself like this season too. Unlike in the bay area especially in San Francisco which is more colder, here in SoCal, it is chilly too.

I want to convey to my family back home that I am fine. My balikbayan box presents will due next month. I miss you all.
